Shooting for the Stars

This drawing is one of many to come in a series of colorized works. It is imagined up from the telling of a story by my elder, who with his brother would play a type of "russian roulette" by tossing ammunition into a campfire only to rush and hide behind a bigger tree trunk while the cooked bullets popped and whizzed and ricocheted around. One night, deciding to shoot the bullets, the brothers took aim at the stars and began to take shots. Many of them missed their mark presumably, some of them might've made it back to earth. The one that made it had been shot right as a shooting star would pass by. It would be hours later that the boys would give up their search for the shot at star and make their way back. SHOOTING STARS ; (diptych) graphite and coloring pencil upon paper 11"x 8" inches.
